Christine Wiggins Crowned Banks Golden Girl in Oistins

She won over the judges and certainly captured the hearts of the mammoth crowd each time she appeared on stage, which is why Christine Wiggins was chosen as the 2012 Banks Calendar Girl and new Banks Beer Ambassador.

On Thursday December 8, 2011 at the Oistins Bay Garden in Christ Church, Christine beat out 15 other gorgeous contestants in the finals of the Banks Calendar Girl Search, bringing the curtain down on a nationwide exercise which gave all of Barbados’ beauties, over the age of eighteen years, a chance to compete for the coveted title of Banks Calendar Girl, and a year long contract worth $10,000.

Thursday’s final commenced with the 16 contestants parading in Banks Beer branded casual attire followed by a swimwear segment, giving the ladies a chance to impress the judges and crowd with their stunning physiques and individual styles. This opportunity was fully capitalized on by the contestants, who came equipped to showcase their brand awareness by adorning swimsuits reflecting the colours of Banks Beer, along with the colour gold in recognition of Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited golden anniversary.

Following the preliminary held on Thursday November 24, 2011, the 16 contestants to advance from the original list of 35 were entered into a head to head People’s Choice battle. Anke Griffith and Jazz Goddard made it through the highly competitive round robin online voting process and faced each other in a keenly contested battle up until one hour before Thursday’s final.

At the end of it all Anke came out on top with a tally of 3680 votes, defeating Jazz by 103 votes to take home a special prize of $1,000 in cash, in addition to being automatically added to the list of 8 finalists chosen to move on to the final showdown of the night.

Taking to the stage one last time in specially created Banks Beer styled swimwear, each of the contestants were asked to answer a question about what being the Banks Calendar Girl for 2012 would mean to them and why they should be chosen as Banks Beer’s newest Ambassador.

Showcasing tremendous confidence and poise, Christine told the judges and the crowd she was the right choice to represent Barbados’ Beer, indicating she had the personality to interact with persons wherever Banks Beer is sold, whether it be the ordinary Barbadian relaxing at a rum shop in the city or a visitor to the island enjoying the national brew at one of the luxury bars across Barbados.
