BIPA Christmas Message – ANOTHER CHRISTMAS WITHOUT ANY REAL ANSWERS

This is the time of year when we look at putting aside money into our pension plans or RRSP’s to take advantage of the tax credit. I can remember both of my agents calling me to find out if I had anything from my bonus to put into CLICO and BAICO, and of course, I did. Three Christmases later, I received no call from an agent and I have no desire to put aside one cent into any plan and I am sure many of our BIPA members feel the same way.

Christmas is a time of joy and peace. But for many of our members it will be a time of anxiety and worry especially for those whose policies have already matured and they are unable to get their money back. What a travesty!! What injustice!!

I wonder what are the thoughts of the principal CLICO executives and all the other cronies, as they prepare for Christmas 2011. Are they giving any thought to the policyholders? Do they remember us with a sense of uneasiness or compassion, or are we just a bad memory while they continue to live their opulent lifestyles?

As we reflect on the reason for the season and the birth of Christ I am reminded of this scripture from Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel; God with us and it is because God is with us that we persevere in faith and hope to get our money back. It is because God is with us that we know justice will be slow in coming but sure to come, and we shall be victorious.

The leadership team of BIPA wishes its members a Merry Christmas as well as all other policyholders of CLICO and BAICO in Barbados and thorough the region. Let us continue to be a united force in 2012 to get our money back!
