Barbados Yellow Pages Awards Winner Of Photo Competition
Defeating her nearest rival by some 124 votes, Carolann Doyle recently came away victorious in the Barbados Yellow Pages/Global Directories “Barbados 24/7 Giveaway” online photo contest.
Ms. Doyle amassed 606 votes for her shot of the East Coast to place first in the competition which ran for two weeks, and took home a new Samsung Android 4G Smart Phone.
Held on Facebook, the contest invited Barbadians to submit photos of their favourite people, places or things using the free nationwide Wi-Fi access for a chance to win the state-of-the-art communications device, plus a 3-month data package from LIME.
In addition to the photos, participants were encouraged to post what it means to be connected 24/7, a significant driver in the local campaign to open up free access to all.
Pam Roach, Marketing Manager with Global Directories, said the response to the contest was quite good, with a total of 50 entries being received:
“We received a number of interesting entries highlighting many of the beautiful spots across the island, in addition to individuals submitting photos of their favourite people and things. This is proof of the willingness of Barbadians to utilise the technology being made available to them and their understanding of its benefits, thereby strengthening the argument for further advancements to be made locally. We at Barbados Yellow Pages will continue to champion this development, with a view to helping Barbadians to stay connected.”
With the success of this contest in addition to the “Hello Yellow” photo competition held earlier this year, Global Directories/Barbados Yellow Pages will be looking to promote subsequent contests going forward. Therefore Barbadians can look forward to other exciting activities giving them more chances to win a number of fantastic prizes.
