Barbados Association of Retired Persons’ Annual Christmas Concert was a resounding success
The Barbados Association of Retired Persons’ Annual Christmas Concert at The Combermere School Hall last Saturday night, featured the Royal Barbados Police Force Band and played to a capacity audience.
The successful concert featured a variety of yuletide selections performed by the Police Force Band under the expert direction of Senior Superintendent Director of Music, Dr. Christopher Atherley.
The spirit of Christmas filled the Combermere Hall and thrilled the crowd as yuletide classics including, “Joy to the World“, “The 12 Days of Christmas“, “O Holy Night“, “Christmas Rhapsody” and other seasonal standards were played by the Band with their usual flair and vibrant musicality.
Their interpretations of modern standards such as “Santa Baby” also delighted everyone, as did their rendition of Red Plastic Bag’s “Maizie“.
One of the high points of the night was the harmonious tones of the St. Christopher Church Choir as they joined the Police Force Band performing, “When I Kneel at the Manger” and “The Cradle Rocks in Glory“.
At the end of the evening President of BARP Edward Bushell thanked everyone who had participated in the concert, as well as all those who came out and supported the event making it such a success.
