Barbadian Tourism Entrepreneur helps Santa make Christmas earlier for destitute Bajans

The entrepreneur was amazed when a simple Facebook conversation mushroomed into a drove which may now continue into 2012 if Barbadians who are more able come forward and lend a hand...

When former BNB Director Tony Hoyos decided to help at least 2,000 needy Barbadians in September he had no idea of the exponential assistance his generosity would create, as a result the original target for 400 meals each Saturday two months ago has now spiked considerably {CLICK ON FOLLOWING LINK FOR FULL AUDIO};-

The Co-Owner of the Plantation Garden Theatre says since Pine Hill and Marcadon have each come on board to donate in helping provide healthy meals for Barbadians who have hit hard times due to the current fiscal crisis, Hoyos is now looking to provide at least 5,000 meals by Christmas.

The drive was initially a plan with Lions, Kiwanis and Salvation Army where Plantation co-owner Colin Brewer gave the green light for the Harmony Hall establishment to start preparing the trays {CLICK ON FOLLOWING LINK FOR FULL AUDIO};-

Tony Hoyos also asked all three of Barbados’ political parties if they knew of any destitute constituents who would find a meal-pak handy in these hard times…

The Plantation is now welcoming individuals and companies who wish to assist with even the smallest donations {CLICK ON FOLLOWING LINK FOR FULL AUDIO};-

Hoyos believes the meals programme can go into early 2012, each tray has chicken and potatoes, if people want – they can donate $100 which can feed 15 needy Bajans, just by heading over to St Lawrence Road.

The nightclub owner was amazed how the initiative has grown, while he’s aware so many Bajans have been sidelined by the current monetary miasma pervading the country, he had no idea a simple plan would create such interest.
