Honey Jam is an all female developmental multigenre multicultural showcase. It is a platform for young women to gain exposure, education, mentoring, showcase and networking opportunities in the music industry and arts community. Along with the artist workshop and showcase, they also promote women’s charities and also offer opportunities to female entrepreneurs.
It is based on the Honey Jam movement in Canada which was founded by Barbadian Ebonnie Rowe and which boasts Nelly Furtado as their most famous alumna. The concept was introduced to Barbados earlier this year. Entitled “A Taste of Honey Jam”, the show featured all young local female artists, including popular teen country singer Malissa Alanna, one performance each in a variety of genres. The artists were also given the opportunity to attend a free industry session which gave them valuable information and advice about their careers.
