Busy weekend for Royal Barbados Police Force – holding Deportee for decade-old Murder and pressing charges for Batts Rock Drug Haul

Shawn Andre Weekes, 28 years, was deported from the USA after serving a 4 year prison sentence. He is expected to appear at Court on Monday 24th October 2011.

Members of the Major Crime Squad of the Force have arrested and charged Shawn Andre Weekes, 28 years, formerly of the Crane, St. Philip for the offence of Murder.

He was wanted for the murder of Leo Callender who at the time was 24 years of St. Martins, St. Philip. Callender was shot while at the Crane, St. Philip on 29th October 2000.

Meanwhile, the Drug Squad have arrested and charged the following persons with several criminal charges relating the seizure of 1645 lbs of cannabis and one boat on October 21, 2011, whilst at Batts Rock, St. Michael. The drugs were found in 29 packages and one multi-coloured bag. They are:

1. Earl Harold Warren, 35 year old Vincentian national, of Lowmans, St. Vincent;
2. Derrick Savannah Grant, 43 years of kendall Hill, Christ Church;
3. Paul Henderson Hinds, 35 years of Emmerton Lane, St. Michael; and

The three above mentioned persons were jointly charged for the following offences committed at Batts Rock on October 21, 2011:

1. Possession of cannabis
2. Trafficking
3. Possession with intent to supply
4. Importation
(Each of the above mentioned were charged separately for the following offences)
5. Entering other than at a port of entry; and
6. Disembarking without the consent of an Immigration Officer.

Michael Sean Decourcey Germaine, 38 years of 6th Avenue, New Orleans, St. Michael.

1. Possession of cannabis
2. Trafficking
3. Possession with intent to supply.

All accused persons are expected to appear at the District A Magistrate Court on October 24, 2011.
