INROADS ON ILLEGAL NARCOTICS CONTINUE FROM ROYAL BARBADOS POLICE FORCE – SEIZURES OF CONTRABAND DRUGS AND ARRESTS

{IMAGE VIA CBS} In one operation there were, according to Inspector Welch - "...431 cannabis plants ranging in heights of 2 feet to 15 feet were discovered under cultivation in a bushy area and were seized..."

A. – Members of the Drug Squad on Monday 26 September 2011, executed a search warrant at the residence of Ryan Andre Hayde, 29 years of Cliff Cottage, St John, where a small quantity of loose cannabis was seized along with 115 cannabis plants under cultivation in a bushy area (range in heights of 2 feet to 7 feet).

As a result he has been charged for the following offences:

1. One count of illegal possession of cannabis;
2. One count of Possession with intent to supply;
3. “ “ Trafficking;
4. “ “ Cultivation.

Also at the residence was Maria Kim Burnett, 22 years of Diamond Close, Ealing Park, Christ Church, who was arrested and charged for the offence of Illegal Possession of Cannabis.

They are expected to appear at the District C Magistrate Court today Tuesday 27 September 2011.

B.– A Joint Operation was carried out by the Special Services Unit and the Anti Gun Unit of the Force in the area of Welch Village, St John, between the hours of 4.00am and 10:00 am on Tuesday 27th September 2011, and as a result 431 cannabis plants ranging in heights of 2 feet to 15 feet were discovered under cultivation in a bushy area and were seized.

Also found was one bulletproof vest.
