Barbados Police warn PSV users to safeguard their possessions, theft in or off such vehicles on the rise

"Cases have been reported that culprits also follow passengers after they disembark from PSV's." according to Inspector Welch

The Royal Barbados Police Force advises the public that in recent times, passengers travelling on Public Service Vehicles have had their valuables ( including jewellery, cellular phones) stolen by the criminal element.

When these public service vehicles, especially Route Taxis (ZR’s), and Minibuses, have come to a stop to allow passengers to either embark or disembark, the culprits on the outside usually reach through the PSVs’ windows and snatched these items from seated passengers.

Also, the culprits may at times be passengers on the same PSVs, and when getting off, snatch these valuables from passengers.

Cases have been reported that culprits also follow passengers after they disembark from PSV’s.

Police wish to advise the public to be aware of these types of criminal activities, be alert at all times and exercise caution.
