Barbadian Authors Get a Boost with 1-day Film Writing Workshop

Attention aspiring film-writers! This Saturday, August 13, 2011, award-winning US based Barbadian filmmaker, Claire Ince, will conduct an intensive one-day screenwriting workshop entitled Make It Happen – Secrets to Writing the Successful Screenplay.

An MFA graduate of New York University’s Dramatic Writing Program, Ince explained the workshop is designed to teach writers key strategies that will take them from a fledgling idea to a solid first draft. Using examples from classic scripts and movies, the workshop will focus on topics such as: Finding the Story; Theme; Structure; and Scene Construction.“My goal is to encourage our writers to get their story down on the page and bring their concept to life,” stated the President of Making Waves Media Inc., which produced the popular RUNBOUT game show.

Space is limited so interested persons are urged to contact 248-0182 to secure placement.

In sharing her expertise with up-and-coming writers, Ince, whose screenplay Scandalous is in development with Generator Entertainment UK, producers of HBO’s Game of Thrones, hopes to inspire Barbadians who dream of seeing their work on the silver screen. “All eyes are on Barbados and it is time we tell our unique stories.”

In addition to the workshop, Ince revealed that she is currently in talks with local investors regarding her latest endeavour – the Barbados-set romantic comedy Once Upon This Aisle, starring Malinda Williams and Vanessa Williams of Soul Food fame.
