The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados selects a new President: Former B’dos Advocate Publisher

In a private capacity Mr Metzgen is a Director of the Barbados Museum and is the co-author of Caribbean Wars Untold: A Salute to the British West Indies, which was published by University of the West Indies Press and won a UWI award for Best General Interest Book in 2010.

At its recent AGM, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados elected a new President. Previously Senior Vice President, Humphrey Metzgen has moved up to take on the lead role at the organisation. Mr Metzgen comes with a wide international and regional business experience and is a former CEO of several leading UK and Caribbean companies.

While resident in the UK, he was a senior corporate executive of several leading companies in the media (the London Times and Sunday Times); television broadcast (Oracle Teletext) and electronic communication (International Gemma Group). In the Caribbean he served as head of the Barbados Advocate newspaper group and the Caribbean Media Corporation before he retired.

Mr Metzgen stated: “We can save more lives and improve the health quality of all patients but to do this we need to strengthen our financial resources and this is something the Foundation will be prioritising.

The HSFB has also elected Mr Adrian Randall its next Senior Vice President. Mr Randall was the CEO of the Foundation before he retired two years ago. Mr Dru Symmonds was re-elected Senior Vice President of Financial Services.
