Popular Beverage Chivas Regal Teams Up With Barbadian Crop Over Promoters Wadadah

Chivas Regal, a premium whisky brand distributed by Mount Gay Distilleries Limited has teamed up with one of Barbados’ most popular Crop Over entertainment groups, “Wadadah” for the 2011 festival to bring love to the community.

Under the theme “Community Love for Crop Over 2011”, the two commenced their community efforts recently by repainting the Ocean View Road, Spooner’s Hill, St. Michael home of Everton Brathwaite.

The collaborative effort between Chivas Regal and “Wadadah” is centered around the latter’s members becoming local “Ambassadors” for the brand, effectively executing Chivas Regal’s push to become more active within the local community by providing assistance to the less fortunate.

The seventy-eight year old Brathwaite expressed his elation at having the 11 “Wadadah” Chivas Regal Ambassadors repaint the entire exterior of his home, and thanked Chivas Regal and Wadadah for selecting him:

I feel honoured and blessed to be chosen to receive such an amazing donation, and would like to thank the “Wadadah” lads and Chivas Regal for thinking of me. My wish is for more groups to do the same as they are many more persons around the island in need of assistance.”

Project Manager of the initiative for the “Wadadah” Group, Obrien Smith explained that this year they decided to put community love as part of their core operations for Crop Over 2011:

We wanted to expand our community efforts and thanks to Chivas Regal we can now execute a number of activities for persons who are facing difficult circumstances and are deserving of assistance from others who can help. Chivas Regal has recognized this, and we are proud to be their ambassadors as we both seek to improve the lives of those less fortunate.”

Brand Manager for Chivas Regal at Mount Gay Distilleries Limited, Carla Jackson, said participation in community outreach efforts is pivotal to Chivas Regal’s corporate social responsibility programme:

This effort is being championed by Chivas Regal but all of the brands distributed by Mount Gay Distilleries are proud to be associated with efforts to assist disadvantaged persons…we are extremely happy to work withWadadah”, and eager to expand the relationship into the future so that many others can benefit.

Throughout the Crop Over 2011 season Chivas Regal and “Wadadah” will be engaged in a number of community efforts across the island which will focus on various areas such as health, poverty, and general well-being.
