  • {Junior Calypso Monarch 2011 Results} Carrie-Lynn Grazette singing under the sobriquet Carrie G beat a field of 8 contestants to win the 8 – 12 category of the Scotiabank Junior Calypso Monarch. Singing the winning composition “Sing My Song” she amassed 425 points 6 more than second placed Jazz ‘Jazz E” Gittens who sang ‘How to win a Crown’ with 419 points. Third was Ranesha ‘Confetti’ Cummins on 414 points with ‘I am a winner’.

In the 13 – 18 yrs category the margin of victory was a mere one point separating Samantha ‘Sammi G’ Greaves on 432 points from Aisha ‘Mandisa’ Butcher. Sammi G performed ‘Protect Yahself’ a song with a message that addressed the AIDS epidemic. ‘The Apple Next to the Tree’ was the offering from second placed Aisha ‘Mandisa’ Butcher. 8 points back with 423 points, in third place was Kadijah ‘Dijah’ Mosely with ‘Respect Your Mother’. Nine contested the 13 – 18 yrs category…

The results were returned shortly after midnight, but in spite of the time a large audience remained to hail the new monarchs.

  1. So what does Admiral have to do with this year’s performance? Why do you have to be a print version of “Festival Stage”? No wonder I hardly see you at these things, SMDH!
