BREAKING NEWS – Former Barbados Visitor, Amy “REHAB” Winehouse dead at age of 27

Singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her apartment in London on Saturday, the UK Press Association reported. She was 27.

Winehouse, born in London in 1983, became a picture of a tattooed teenage rebel after she was expelled from a prestigious performing arts school.

Winehouse's throaty vocals brought the British musician stardom in 2007, but her off-stage life gained her notoriety. The lyrics of her songs, especially the hit "Rehab," chronicled her troubled life.

Last month, Winehouse canceled the remainder of her 12-city European concert tour.

The singer had a history of battling drugs and alcohol. Winehouse recently left a British rehab program that a representative said was intended to prepare her for the European concerts.

Last appearance

The troubled singer made her last public appearance on Wednesday night when she joined her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on stage at The Roundhouse in Camden.

The singer danced with Bromfield and encouraged the audience to buy her album in the impromptu appearance before leaving the stage.

Winehouse was in Barbados three years ago and also in Castries, unfortunately the Caribbean was not therapeutic enough for her – may she finally get the rest she sought?
