Belizean Media Personality endures harassment by Lawmen at Belmopan Parliament

It seems Jimmiy Gittens and the Pitt sisters are not the only victims of the West Indian Schutz-Staffel?

Carla Bradley – who works for Vibes Radio and The Belize Times was not allowed to enter (Belize’s) House Chamber with her flip video camera – because Police at the door wanted to see her I.D. She told (7 News Belize) what happened:

"One month ago - (7 News Belize) aired the complaints of ... colleague Adele Trapp - who was not allowed to enter a House Meeting with her purse. That's what police at the door told her. (7 News Belize has) another similar complaint from another of (their) female colleagues..."

Into the house meetings for this year and the senate meetings and this is the first time I was asked to leave my stuff, my camera. they said I could not go in with my camera, and I said I am media, so which media house are you representing, so I said Vibes, so where is your ID, and I must state that no one else is asked for an ID only me, and they refuse for me to go in with my stuff. So I had to leave my stuff.”

Jules Vasquez
“Because you did not have an ID.”

Carla Bradley
“I don’t have an ID.”

Jules Vasquez
“Which I don’t have one either.”

Carla Bradley
“But the only ways I was able to come up into the sitting is by being escorted by Yellow Man and by Mr. Musa up the parliamentary stairs.”

Jules Vasquez
“So right now you are here, but you are not really here, because you are not allowed into this meeting.”

Jules Vasquez
You are stealing a chance into this meeting.”

Carla Bradley
“Yes because of two people that walked me into today.”

For the record, we’ve attended every house sitting for the past 17 years and none of our personnel have ever used or been required to carry a press I.D. Another colleague, a camera man from Channel 5 told us he wasn’t allowed to enter today’s sitting with his sunglasses – which is another new rule.
