Woman charged by Barbados Police for perverting the course of justice and harassment

Police have arrested and charged Tonya Tamara Thompson, 26 years of Block 12 C, Silver Hill, Christ Church, for the offences of Attempting to pervert the course of Justice and Harassment.

She is accused of committing these two offences towards a member of the jury, who sat in the murder trial of her boyfriend Troy Stanford. Troy Stanford was found guilty of Manslaughter on Thursday June 23rd 2011.

The Inspector revealed - "Thompson in the presence of a juror on Thursday 23 June 2011, uttered words and made gestures which were intended or calculated to intimidate the said juror."

The case was referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions who ordered that Thompson be charged for the offences. Tonya Thompson appeared at the District A Magistrate Court and was offered bail, but the Surety could not satisfy the Court; she therefore was remanded to HMP Dodds until Wednesday June 29, 2011, to reappear at the same Court.
