Lexy’s Piano Bar gets publicity while top UK soccer player belts tunes from Beatles & Queen
It’s been a while since we visited Lexy’s Piano Bar where anything can happen and many times does (Digicel executives are known to frequent there, as well members of Barbados’ polo community) – this time was when Frankie met Rooney;-
Wife Coleen and friends cheered as Rooney launched into Queen hit We Are The Champions during a night of fun at Lexy’s Piano Bar.
The 25-year-old England and Manchester United ace first asked fans on Twitter to send requests for him to perform.
He later posted: “Having a great night in Barbados! In lexys piano bar with ColeenRoo and friends. Been on the mic for about 7 songs and felt like a rock star.”
Yesterday, Coleen posted a photo of her husband dueting with the pianist in the bar. She also tweeted: “Fantastic night in piano bar!! Wayne on mic doing Beatles mix!!!”
The only thing was, the Mirror item said nothing about the piano player, luckily we can refresh your memories from our own item, dudes? The guy’s name was Frankie G. and he is a personality in his own right;-
The crowd at Lexy was quite raucous that night, Frankie G. from Tennessee had ‘em hopping – “Big, Bad Leroy Brown,” Trammp’s “Disco Inferno,” plus Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart and some Elton John among many other medleys… But the man Lexy himself did not entertain that night (He had an important flight out next day) and so the crowd gave a small grouchy sussurus when he declined to appear… Frankie G. and the bar had a clever way of inviting Lexy, they sang “Living Next Door to Alice” except Alice was now changed to Alex, LOL!
