Dominican Republic has growing challenge like Barbados – Guard your Blackberry

Santo Domingo’s Police Criminal Investigations Department says that 2,751 reports of stolen cell phones have been received across the country so far this year, as reported in Hoy.

The newspaper makes the point that this is not the total of cell phones stolen, because not everyone reports the loss.

"According to the Police, 687 Blackberry devices have been recovered so far this year, of more than 2,000 that have been reported stolen."

The DR’s Police say that in March alone, 500 Blackberry smartphones were stolen. According to the Police, 687 Blackberry devices have been recovered so far this year, of more than 2,000 that have been reported stolen. Overall, the Police report that 779 mobile phones have been recovered, of which only 92 were brands other than BB.
