The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) has sent congratulations to the victorious West Indies Cricket team which won the First Test Match against Pakistan at Providence, Guyana, today.
“This is a hard-fought victory by Captain Darren Sammy and the entire team,” President and CEO of WIPA, Dinanath Ramnarine said. “We have kept our home record against Pakistan intact and will not lose a series against them here in the Caribbean. The next step is to complete a sweep of the series in St Kitts.”
The WIPA CEO said that it was a great team effort and everyone deserved to be congratulated for their contributions. He pointed out that even though Chanderpaul had not played since the World Cup, he demonstrated that he was still “Mr. Dependable” and contributed significantly to the WI victory. Additionally, WIPA commends Devendra Bishoo on an outstanding debut, Ravi Rampaul for his sterling performance as a strike bowler and Captain Sammy for his 5-wicket haul in the crucial second innings of the match.
“The victory proves that a judicious mix of experience and youth will always work for us,” Ramnarine said.
