Valeant International (Barbados) SRL & Cave Hill School of Business-UWI Launch 2011 Business Plan Competition
Valeant International (Barbados) SRL and the Cave Hill School of Business (CHSB) Inc. – The University of the West Indies are pleased to announce the start of the Valeant International Business Plan Competition 2011.
The Valeant International Business Plan Competition 2011 offers entrepreneurial and creative students the opportunity to create a business plan for Valeant International (Barbados) SRL, a subsidiary of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc., a multi-national specialty pharmaceutical company. The company is seeking submissions of business plans for the start up and management of a company to distribute select Over-the-Counter dermatology product lines in Barbados and the Caribbean region.
Rich Masterson, President & COO of Valeant International (Barbados) SRL expressed his pleasure in “partnering with CHSB in this business plan competition and supporting their entrepreneurship program and endeavors. Valeant has a long history of supporting UWI and we appreciate this opportunity to expand our relationship.”
According to Ms. Marjorie Wharton, Director of Strategic Business Services at the Cave Hill School of Business, “CHSB is also very pleased to be entering into this partnership with Valeant International (Barbados) SRL. This project offers young entrepreneurs an incredible opportunity. It is designed to encourage innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship. To have an organization willing to give this level of support and this type of opportunity to a relatively young person who may be full of ideas but lacking in experience is truly remarkable and Valeant should be commended for their willingness to be a part of this effort.”
The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students of the University of the West Indies who are pursuing studies in Business, Finance or Biotechnology. Business plans can be submitted by individuals or groups (maximum 4 participants per group). Students submitting business plans will vie for a grand prize of US$10,000 with additional prizes for 2nd and 3rd places.
Interested persons must submit registration for the competition to the Cave Hill School of Business (CHSB) Inc on or before July 31, 2011. Final business plans however, are to be submitted on or before September 30, 2011. The winner(s) will be announced and prizes will be presented during the week of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in November, 2011.
