Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy & Harris Paints Come Together

Thanks to Harris Paints and the Pinelands Soccer Academy, two community residents will be smiling even brighter in the coming weeks. This is a result of one of the Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy’s initiatives which will see them sprucing up the community by cleaning and painting the homes of the elderly, disabled and underprivileged in the area.

The Academy, having approached Harris Paints was thrilled with the company’s response to assist them with this project. Colin Harewood, Community Development Department Officer & PRO for the Academy who also plays the role of Coach, as well as Director Patrick Bullen, recently accepted a donation of paint, accessories and Harris T-Shirts from the company’s Wildey store. “This venture with Harris Paints is in keeping with the Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy and Community Development Department’s “building community” programme. The programme is geared towards bridging the gap between the youth and seniors and at the same time helping the seniors that are out there on their own to feel loved and cared for. The project also deals with building community leaders at an early age within the academy, and also getting the youngsters involved in giving back to their community. This relationship with Harris Paints is also one of our efforts to build strong working links with companies from around the community. We thank Harris Paints for coming on board and we look forward to their continued support.”

Michael Babb, Senior Technical Consultant for Harris was on hand for the presentation and first congratulated the Pinelands Youth Soccer Academy for becoming the champions of the Under-13 League in the recently concluded Barbados Cup and also commended the team for giving back to the community. “We at Harris applaud such performances because this is something that the community needs right now; for it members both young and old to step forward and work with each other and foster synergies within the community, thereby making it stronger.

He added that the company was committed to helping the Pinelands community and is pleased to be associated with such programmes that uplift and brighten not only the neighbourhood but also the lives of its residents. “We at Harris Paints truly believe that colour influences moods and that by adding colour one can bring a new sense of beauty and pride that can in turn bring about happiness and a happy community is a strong community.”
