KFC St. Stephen’s & West Terrace seek to secure semi-final positions in football competition

Last year’s finalists in the National Sports Council’s BICO Primary Schools’ Football Competition, West Terrace and KFC St. Stephen’s are set to take to the field today (Tuesday, May 31, 2011) in a quest to secure semi-final spots in the 27th edition of the competition.

All of the games in the second round of the competition are scheduled for the National Stadium. Today’s action will feature reigning champions, West Terrace who have entered the second round with an impressive undefeated record. West Terrace will play against Eden Lodge in a zone two match up at 9:30 a.m.

Today’s second encounter will bring last year’s runners-up KFC St. Stephen’s and Hillaby Turner’s Hall in zone three at 10:30 a.m. KFC St. Stephen’s made it to the second round as the second placed team in their zone after recording four wins, two losses and one defaulted game against Sharon Primary.

KFC St. Stephen’s Coach Jeremy Browne is confident that his team can go all the way this year and capture the elusive title:

For the past two years, we have made it to the final of the competition but the win has eluded us. This year, our road to the second round has not been as smooth as we had hoped. However, we have a talented team of players who are both mentally and physically prepared. Going forward, the key is to play each of the coming matches to the best of our ability by remaining focussed. We are hungry for the win and I believe that we can take it all the way this year.”
