Hello Yellow Photo Competition Fuels Creativity

Nine very creative entries and some 3423 votes later, Warren Linton, came away victorious, winning the inaugural Global Directories/Barbados Yellow Pages, “Hello Yellow” Facebook Photo Competition.

The one month long promotion, which ran between March and April, 2011, invited persons to submit creative “Hello Yellow” themed photographs, utilising the eye-catching and much talked about Hello Yellow “Paint the Town Yellow” outdoor campaign props, such as the branded surfboard, crashed car, fencing, snowcone carts, and branded Abed’s showcase windows at Sheraton Centre, Christ Church and Swan Street, Bridgetown.

These photographs were then uploaded to the Barbados Yellow Pages Facebook promotion page, where fans of the page were asked to “Like”/Vote for their favourite photograph, with the three entrants to amass the highest number of votes receiving exciting prizes.

With a total of 1,351 votes, Warren Linton walked away with the first prize of an Apple Ipad, while Marva Lashley-Todd with 1,232 votes, and Daana Linton, 372 votes, took away the second the third place prizes respectively of a two night weekend getaway to Grenada, and a spa treatment at the Ying Yang Clinic.

Pam Roach, Marketing Manager of Global Directories/Barbados Yellow Pages, said the goal of the promotion was to create wider awareness of the Yellow Pages brand via social media:

Following on from ourPaint the Town Yellowcampaign, which successfully captured the attention of Barbadians, we looked for another medium where we could further spread the message about Yellow Pages and the value of the service we provide. We chose the growing medium of Facebook, which although relatively new to us has worked remarkably well in terms of getting persons to link into Barbados Yellow Pages online. We ended the promotion with a Facebook fan base of over 3,000 moving from approximately 800 at the start.

The remaining six entrants did not walk away empty-handed however, with each receiving a gift voucher valued at Bds$100 redeemable at Cave Shepherd and Lucky Horseshoe Restaurants.
