WIPA CONGRATULATES THE WINDIES AND CHRIS GAYLE
The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) has sent congratulations to the victorious West Indies International T20 Cricket Team and to former Captain, Chris Gayle, who scored an unbeaten century today.
Speaking on behalf of WIPA, President and CEO, Dinanath Ramnarine, said, “In terms of the winning performance against Pakistan yesterday by the West Indies team, Lendl Simmons has shown why he should always be considered for selection and Bishoo has rapidly demonstrated that he has the capacity to be a world-class spinner. The Captain, Darren Sammy, must also be singled out for his brilliant fielding. Overall, it is a good start to the series.” The teams performance is even more commendable when one considers the many off the field issues which continues to dominate West Indies cricket.
Chris Gayle’s magnificent innings for the Bangalore Royal Challengers against the Kolkatta Knight Riders was also highly praised by the WIPA CEO. “Gayle overcame jetlag and disappointment to show his quality and fighting spirit,” Ramnarine said. “This is the mark of a true champion and world class player. He had done this in scoring his recent 333 and has done it again. I spoke to him earlier and he is in good spirits and looking forward to making his mark on this year’s IPL.”
