I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember.” says the Barbadian designer who now resides in TX. Born Sophia Harewood in 1977 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, Sophia was encouraged by her great-grandmother; Emmaline Stephenson to play dress up, which sparked her love for fashion. Her great-grandmother also taught her to sew which opened up a new world for her. Sophia’s mother, Paulette Harewood introduced her to art, by drawing sketches in Sophia’s art books as well as taking her to see art exhibits.

I love what I do. Further, I believe as women we are seeking not only beauty in our fashion but also functionality and longevity.” Sophia’s collection, Emmaline, named after her beloved great-grandmother, features dresses in natural fibers infused with a blend of Caribbean memories and Texan colors.
