According to Everybody’s Magazine – A US/Caribbean publication – Dr. Karl Rodney, a fundraiser for the American Friends of the University of the West Indies and publisher of a New York Caribbean newspaper, was charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia for lying to the House Ethics Committee relating to business conferences one of his enterprise held in Antigua/Barbuda and St. Maarten.
According to the Diasporic periodical, the Jamaican publisher “falsely certified that the statements on a certification form… were true, complete, and correct to the best of his knowledge, when in truth and in fact … the certification form was untrue, incomplete and incorrect in that it did not (a) identify all the sponsors of the trip; and (b) failed to disclose all the sources that had earmarked funds and other support to finance aspects of the trip.”
, a former president of the Jamaica Progressive League, is frequently saluted for receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of the West Indies.
