Dr Radhakanth Shenoy wrote on facebook: “Blood bank is usually in need of blood donation. Voluntary donors must come forward and donate blood. Those with rare groups may register and donate when actually needed. Those with common groups can donate at least once in 6 months. Even once a year is a good donation to the society. The life saved may be that of your own family, friend and some times you may need it yourself.Sir Frank Worrell day is the day when people in Calcutta donate blood in his name.

{IMAGE COURTESY – "The Reverse Sweep"} The life saved may be that of your own family, friend and some times you may need it yourself.Sir Frank Worrell day is the day when people in Calcutta donate blood in his name. Sir Frank Worrell donated blood to help out Nari Contractor, the Indian cricket captain who sustained depressed skull fracture in 1962 at the Kensington Oval. Charlie Griffith bowled a bouncer. Those days no helmets to protect the head.

Calcutta people appreciated this gesture of Sir Frank Worrell and every year on his birth day they come forward and donate. Actually thousands of youngsters stand in line and donate. Can we expect at least 100 youngsters to donate this year? UWI students are the ideal donors. Men prefered as women tend to lose blood monthly. Let us help the Blood Bank and save lives of Barbadians.”
