On Sunday, December 26th, the Barbados Water Authority sustained a burst on a major 15-inch main near the Hampton Pumping Station in St. Philip. Repairs to that main were completed by 6 p.m on Sunday and water returned to the main. Affected areas in St. Philip gradually received water over the next few hours.

The return of normal water supply to the affected areas in Christ Church was anticipated by late Sunday night or early Monday morning. However, the Authority’s crews were made aware this morning, Monday 27th that customers in some Christ Church districts remain without water in spite of the completed works.

As a result of this information, the Authority again dispatched water tankers to assist these customers while work crews carried out investigations. As is the case when a main of this size is out of commission for several hours air precedes the water that flows through the main when the water is turned back on.

Crews discovered a number of areas where they have had to bleed air off the mains and this work is currently in progress.

It is now expected that normal water supply should resume in the affected areas by late this afternoon. The BWA sincerely apologises for the length of time our valued customers have been without their water service but continues to work feverishly to resolve the issue at the earliest.
