US Embassy and the Barbados National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (BNCPTA) to Host Conference on Educational Opportunities

This year marks the eleventh annual International Education Week (IEW), an opportunity to recognize the value of international educational exchange in developing mutual understanding and respect around the world. IEW, held the third week of November each year, is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange.

The United States Embassy for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean’s EducationUSA office, in collaboration with the Barbados National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (BNCPTA), is hosting an Educational Opportunity Conference during the 2010 International Education Week (November 15-19, 2010).

The conference is scheduled for Thursday, 18th November 2010 at Harrison College’s School Hall from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The conference will give students, teachers and parents, information on educational opportunities in Barbados and in the United States along with information on scholarship opportunities available to study in the United States.

The winners of the International Education Week Essay Contest will also be announced at this event and presented with their prizes which include computers sponsored by Tropical Computers and TSL Barbados and cash.
