Barbadian Helicopter Company Partners With Canadian Operator to Support International Science Mission

Horizon Helicopters of Barbados has entered into a joint venture with National Helicopters Inc. of Ontario Canada to provide helicopter services in support of an international science campaign based in Barbados.

Managing Director/Owner Paul Archer & Crew - The project runs until November 29th. It will run again next April.

The Leibniz institute for Tropospheric Research in collaboration with the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, will be conducting airborne research into the process of cloud formation and development off Barbados. This will involve the towing of electronic cloud measuring equipment externally from a helicopter on a 525 foot line off the coast of Barbados.

National Helicopters Inc. is highly experienced in this specialized type of operation, and the Bell 206L1 Long Ranger helicopter which is being utilised, is ideally suited to this mission. Horizon Helicopters and National Helicopters have entered into an informal MOU for further cooperation with a view to increasing operational capacity and fleet size in Barbados. This will enable Horizon Helicopters to service the demand for external load and aerial construction helicopters for the entire Caribbean region in the future.
