Barbadian Fast Food Franchise supports Ellerslie Secondary School’s Cricket Programme
Kentucky Fried Chicken (B’dos) pledged their support to yet another local secondary school’s sport programme with its title sponsorship of the Ellerslie Secondary School’s cricket teams, which will now be known as “KFC Ellerslie.”
The title sponsorship arrangement encompasses the school’s five cricket teams; Under-13, Under-15, Under-19, Intermediate and Division 2, as well as the annual Easter tour by the cricketers.
Cricket Master of the Ellerslie Secondary School, Dwayne Best says the school welcomes KFC’s contribution to the cricket programme:
“This sponsorship arrangement with KFC is very timely because the 2010 Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) Everton Weekes Under-13 Competition is slated to begin on November 15th. KFC’s provision of equipment, uniforms, medical kits and other items will greatly assist the team with its preparations. We are equally pleased that KFC has agreed to continue its sponsorship of the school’s annual Easter tour. Our cricketers benefit significantly from participating in these tours because it allows them to hone their skills against their peers in other islands, while exposing them to other cultures since for many of them it is their first trip overseas… The team’s upcoming 2011 Easter tour is to the island of St. Vincent where they are scheduled to compete in five matches.”
KFC’s Marketing Coordinator, Shekelia Barrow says KFC has been supporting Ellerslie Secondary School for several years and the company is pleased to formalise its relationship with the school’s cricket teams through the title sponsorship arrangement:
“Our relationship with the Ellerslie Secondary School’s cricket teams spans over three years. We have been extremely pleased with the consistently solid performances of the teams in the various competitions under the auspices of the National Sports Council and the Barbados Cricket Association. Additionally, many of the school’s cricketers have also been recording impressive performances… we hope that with our assistance, the school’s talented players can go on to equal the achievements of the alumni including Carlisle Best, Philo Wallace, Sherwin Campbell, Otis Gibson and Suleiman Benn who all made it to the highest level as members of the West Indies cricket team.”
KFC’s title sponsorship of the Ellerslie Secondary School’s cricket programme comes on the heels of a similar arrangement with the Combermere Secondary School, which saw KFC partnering with the school’s basketball teams, which are now known as “KFC Combermere.”
