U.S. Embassy statement on the passing of Barbadian Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. David Thompson

"Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Mara and his entire family."

By Dr. Brent Hardt, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Prime Minister, the Rt. Honorable David Thompson.

On behalf of the government and people of the United States of America, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the Prime Minister’s family and to the government and people of Barbados.

The United States has lost a good friend, a true partner, and a leading voice for democracy, prosperity and justice within the Caribbean. His passion and commitment to the people of Barbados was clear in all that he did on the world stage and at home in Barbados.
