HARRIS PAINTS ON BOARD FOR CHILDREN’S HOME MAKEOVER WITH BARBADOS’ FUTURE CENTRE TRUST
Mrs Sharron Alleyne-Elcock, Regional Marketing Manager of the Harris Group of Companies, has confirmed that Harris Paints are taking an ingenious approach to participation in this year’s Clean Up Barbados campaign on September 18, by choosing to paint the interiors of two of the cottages at the Nightengale Children’s Home in Black Rock with the permission of the Child Care Board.
After a suggestion by Future Centre Trust Marketing Committee Member, Rebecca Skeete, the Child Care Board was contacted as a possible worthy recipient of a painting contribution suggested by Luke Ticknor, Harris Paints Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Harris Paints has chosen to undertake this project because we recognize the need to support our community and because, as the Caribbean Champions of Colour, we know the importance of adding colour to people’s lives, especially the lives of underpriviledged children,” said Ticknor. Harris Paints are also contributing not just their team, but paint, and painting supplies to their unique effort.
Nicole Garofano, Project Coordinator of the nationwide event, says “Clean Up Barbados is not just about cleaning beaches and gullies, it is also about identifying areas of the community where such volunteer efforts would be put to the best use. Children’s homes and Aged Care facilities are two sectors of our community where such a concentration of assistance is well received and we are happy to partner with Harris Paints and the Child Care Board in this instance.”
Companies are encouraged to ‘think outside the box’ as it relates to their inputs to the campaign. It was noted that often contributions to events such as these are viewed as a strain on resources for companies. However as we can see here, Harris Paints are making a worthwhile contribution to the wider community while helping to build team spirit within the organisation and helping the kids to have a brighter place to live.
Any other organisations who wish to contribute to this particular location in the way of furniture or other recognised needs are encouraged to contact Nicole Garofano of the Future Centre Trust by emailing email@example.com to arrange a contribution in consultation with the Child Care Board.
Clean Up Barbados takes place on Saturday 18 September, 2010. The public is invited to participate by selecting an area of concern, drawing together a team for participation and registering the community with the Future Centre Trust. Teams can commence at their chosen time of the morning on the day, but are asked to be completed by around midday to allow the weighing-in of what is collected to be undertaken in a timely manner. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available, particularly as it relates to media, T shirt and haulage contributions. Those interested are encouraged to call the Future Centre Trust on 625 2020, email to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the website at www.cleanupbarbados.org.
