After many years of trying, Renee Ratcliffe finally won Festival Designer of the year. Her band also won the coveted award of Best Big Band. Other prizes were: Best Individual Male, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. (The first time this has ever been awarded to one Band) First and Third Best Female Individual, 1st for HIV /Aids awareness, 2nd prize Most Topical, 2nd Prize Advertising, 3rd Best Presentation.

All costumes were made in Barbados, by a small team of dedicated folks.

The title of Festival Designer of the year is also very satisfying, as this has been the most elusive prize of all. The Band, “Spirit of the Gap“, tied in six Popular Places in St Lawrence Gap, and each was depicted artistically and beautifully in the six sections of the Band.

The band totalled just over 600 revelers, who were treated not only to a Champagne Breakfast, drinks on the road, but also a Lunch when they got to Spring Garden.

Paulo’s Churrasco was depicted in the Amazon section, Pisces restaurant as Motion of The Ocean, Ship Inn was Ships Ahoy, McBrides came dressed as The Luck of the Irish, Cafe Sol was depicted as Caliente, while the Reggae Lounge was a colourful section called Irie.

The Band was Presented by Jump Promotions, a Division of Paul's Enterprises (PEL).
