Barbados leg of Variety Charity’s Summer Movie Morning at Olympus Theatres

Variety the Children’s Charity is once more partnering with Olympus Theatres to provide summer fun for those less fortunate. On Saturday, July 31st 2010, children who would normally find it a challenge (financially or physically) to go to the movies, will be afforded the opportunity to do so free of cost.

Included in the outing are snacks and drinks and popcorn, the staples of any movie going experience. The movie the movie “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” has been selected and is fitting with its story of a (wimpy) child trying to fit in. Though the story may not be a lesson in what to do, it will provide fun and laughter and a satirical look at the situation which is faced by so many children across Barbados.

The Olympus Theatres provides the movie and popcorn free of cost, while Variety the Children’s Charity takes on the responsibility of inviting the children and co-coordinating the logistics including special transportation for some of the wheelchair bound children using its sunshine Coach fleet.

Ms. Donnah Russell, Executive Director of Variety praised the Olympus team of Mr. John Morgan and Ms. Natasha Nash and other staff members for their enthusiasm, commitment and cooperation in the venture.

Ms. Russell also acknowledged the donations from Pine Hill Dairy, Hanschell Inniss, Purity Bakeries, and Flavorite Ice Creams and Windmill Products. The kids were also treated to tee shirts compliments Diamond International.
