Jamaica lost main man Chris Gayle in the third over and Xavier Marshall in the fifth as they struggled to 42-2 at the halfway stage against Barbados in Semi-final 1 of the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 on Friday night at Queen’s Park Oval.

Gayle, back in the team after recovering from a groin injury, was well caught for just one by Jonathan Carter running back from square leg off Javon Searles.

Marshall, who is Jamaica’s inform batsman, played over a full length ball from Dwayne Smith and was “castled” for nine.

Since then Marlon Samuels (14 not out) and Danza Hyatt (13 not out) have tried to repair the early damage.

The winner of the match will qualify for Saturday night’s final against Guyana, who earlier won a cliffhanger against Trinidad and Tobago by four runs.
