The golfing community has responded positively to a fund raising offer by Apes Hill in support of the staging of the 54th Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships.

Secretary of the Barbados Golf Association Trenton Weekes says Apes Hill Club has extended the Tee Times from Saturday coming to this Friday and Sunday as well.

Weekes reported that the initial day offered of Saturday has been sold out.

BGA President Birchmore Griffith has also reported that nine countries and teams, all with nearly full contingents, have confirmed their participation in the coming championships.

Almost every team will have a full contingent of 14 players plus a manager,” Griffith said.

In addition to the prestigious Hoerman Cup for men, there will be a women’s championship and competition in Seniors, Super Seniors and Mid Amateur categories.

Barbados will for the first time in 10 years be the host nation for the 54th Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships at Royal Westmoreland from June 27th to July 4th.

  1. I am just watching the US Open nowadays and I was incredibly impressed with the way that Phil Mickelson played his round of golf. He shot an remarkable round of -5 under par, to finish day two at -1 par. The man he is chasing down for the number one globe ranking, Tiger Woods, did not have anywhere as extraordinary a round, but still played really good and shot a round of +1, to finish his second round at +4. It will probably be very a tournament over the remaing two days, and I wonder if Tiger can gain back his form and record his 15 main championship or will this be Phil Mickelson’s time to finally win a US Open- I guess we will have to wait and see how this will end. On a side note, once again, Ian Poulter had on a rather completely unique pair of golf trousers. He is undeniably one of golf’s most interesting personas.
