Speaker of the Barbados House of Assembly bites the bullet and signs Breathalyser petition – Now, when will Michael Carrington have an Offensive Weapons policy? After Hilary Clinton passes by?
The Chinese have a weird curse, “May you live in interesting times.” So true, we are indeed doing so, makes you wonder who did we offend, eh?
Trinidad has its first female Prime Minister as the West Indies’ cricket team enter one of their worst slumps since the WI Vs. ZA tour in ’99…
The Prime Minister of Barbados’ health is under severe scrutiny and the ruling party is seeking to make a political football of it and get sympathy from it – why? Can they suspect that a new dispensation may be required, and they are trying to load the guns before the bell is rung?
If so, then another PR stunt they’re attempting, could be seeking to cast an unspoken slur on the alleged habits of the head of the previous regime? Barbados now finds Michael Carrington, the ruling DLP’s Speaker of The House, signing a petition from Pastor Victor Roach on getting Barbados to be 21st Century compliant on Breathalyser usage and relevant laws pertaining to Driving Under the Influence (DUI, viz. alcohol impaired vehicular travel).
WHAT ABOUT AN OFFENSIVE WEAPONS POLICY? ESPECIALLY AS HILARY CLINTON IS DUE TO PASS THROUGH BARBADOS NEXT WEEK?
As you see in this picture above, Obama is swarmed by Secret Service personnel (These are the ones who are seen, God only knows how many counter-snipers are pre-arranged), especially when you have so many racist factions wanting the 44th POTUS out of the way for America to be ‘clean‘ (sic) again…
So if Barbados is to be considered as the most developed Caribbean island, how can we not have an Offensive Weapons Policy for the very least, Public Offices (Which the US refer to as Federal Buildings), when even schools on a global capacity have such dictum as their regular discipline? Don’t take my word for it – Google it yourself, “OFFENSIVE WEAPONS POLICY,” you’ll see many British, Australian and Canadian schools have such a pre-emptive measure – probably after the Columbine Massacre.
It cannot be argued that Barbados does not need such legislature, even if the dispute between Marshall and Estwick is ignored – then History cannot… The late JMGM “Tom” Adams was in Parliament and assaulted by a mental patient with the same name as a popular comedian (not the same person as Trevor Eastmond but another joker), I speak under correction here – but I believe even the Right Excellent Errol W. Barrow was also attacked in those so-called hallowed halls!
If there had been a better policy against what may be construed or used as an implement to harm, maim or kill – would any further debacles have ensued? Don’t you think the USA’s relevant personnel will be examining this before Hilary Clinton arrives? When her husband and Obama’s predecessor (William Jefferson Clinton, cigar connoisseur) visited here in 1997, there were Secret Service people here for WEEKS before he was due to arrive – you think that similar efforts will not be undertaken?
With an Offensive Weapons Policy, and the requisite enforcement, would the ZR Robbery(suspected to be Gang related) have happened or even the Parkinson Memorial robbery have had a chance to unfold? These events, in and of themselves, speak to an economic climate where the risk of Crime is greater then the respect for Law – which in turn hints at poor handling of Barbados’ affairs… Nice, what a picture to show the USA next week, eh?
But here it is that the Speaker of The House instead of making sure the place he’s in charge of is safe from even his own colleagues and their known tempers, has chosen to put his signature on a REQUEST for laws pertaining to Breathalyser testing. Perhaps a more sober approach to determining priorities needs to be redressed? Which is more significant, having Breathalysers or uncovering hidden bullets?
