Queen’s College Association plans busy June – Barbecue & Games among other activities
June is not too soon for the Queen’s College Association to host a number of activities aimed at bringing the alumni together for both business and pleasure.
Over the last few weeks, the QCA has been holding a series of outreach tables at various venues across the island, with the stated aim of raising public awareness of the organization, attracting new members, selling branded memorabilia (mugs, mouse pads, wrist bands) and promoting the Give Back QC Pavilion Fund-Raising Drive.
In June, the activity level will reach new heights with more outreach tables on June 5 and June 26, a General Meeting and Games Evening on June 12, and a family-oriented beach barbecue on June 19 at Folkestone Beach.
The Executive Committee has expressed a strong desire to attract a broader range of people to the activities, especially the more recent graduates of the school. Past activities included a very successful reunion lunch in October 2009 and the Ole Dub Fete (with Soca Artistes) in December 2009. More recently, the QCA has been able to assist with sending some of the school’s athletes to the Penn Relays, topping off a very successful athletics season.
Here are the details of the June 2010 QCA activities:
- June 5, 12 noon to 3pm, Outreach Table at Super Centre, Sunset Crest, St. James
- June 12, 4:30pm, General Meeting & Games Evening, Rooms B5 & B6, Queen’s College
- June 19, 5:30 QCA BBQ, Folkestone Beach, St. James, tickets $20. Chicken, fish, burgers.
- June 26, 9am to 5pm, Outreach Table at Super Centre, Warrens, St. Michael
Plans are also underway for the Founder’s Week events in October, with ideas being formulated for a panel discussion, joint assembly, tree-planting and a surprise social event.
The QCA is also looking at negotiating discounts and specials for its members with select businesses, as adding to the value of belonging to the organization.
All past students of Queen’s College are warmly invited to join the Association as soon as possible! Information and membership forms can be sent via email or regular mail. Interested persons may contact Kathie Daniel at 435-1660 or 268-1496 or via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
