10th round of LIME Barbados National Karaoke Championships – Sweeter 2nd time around

Last Friday night at Braddies Bar Michaela Blackett proved nothing beats a second try and she came out on top in last week’s Qualifying Round in the LIME Barbados Karaoke Championship 2010.

Her performance was noted by the judges as being ‘even better than the week before’ when she missed the top spot by just one point. This time she performed the Etta James signature song ‘At Last’. Her obvious talent and natural energy complimented her performance of this Classic Hit.

In second place was Gabi Best singing the 2009 hit single ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys. Gabi brought her own energy to the presentation to do justice to the song while adding the necessary conviction to give her the points to secure the second qualifying spot. The Judges for the last week were Ricky Aimey and Richard Stoute, while the MC was Ricky Carter.

In these Qualifying Rounds contestants are allowed to return three weeks to try to secure a spot in the next round. At stake for the eventual winner is the big cash prize of $5,000, a Professional Recording and one 32’ inch Flat Screen Television.

All other nine finalists will receive excellent cash prizes. This Championship is on the home stretch so if you have been thinking about coming but have not found the courage, just come on down to Braddies from 8pm Friday night, fill in the registration form and prepare to be judged at 10:30pm.

The process is simple and even after the competition is over you can stay on to sing Karaoke into the morning. Also if you are looking for a great night out with a fun atmosphere then you need to be at Braddie’s in Dover Christ Church where the bar and kitchen remain open, as well as the pool room.
