Round 5 of the LIME Barbados Karaoke Championship: Jill Scott & Diana Ross Versions Rule
The crowd roared and the chanted one name to be the winner in Round 5 of the LIME Barbados Karaoke Championship. Laverne Smith had impressed the judges and the crowd so much it was obvious she deserved to be the first place qualifier. This was the scene at Braddies Bar last Friday night when she sang Diana Ross’s 1991 lead single from the album Force Behind the Power – When you tell me that you love me.
With only two points separating her from Laverne, second place qualifier Tricia Maynard sang He loves Me as soulfully as the original singer Jill Scott. Both received prizes compliments of championship sponsors Mount Gay Rum.
The Qualifying Rounds continue at Braddie’s Bar every Friday night until August. Then the qualifiers get a chance to show their talents on a bigger stage at The Plantation Theatre in September and October.
