The of Segway Polo Club of Barbados (SPCB) won the International Woz Challenge Cup in Cologne, Germany in July 2009 and will be defending the title this year in Barbados.
With this honour and title, is pleased to confirm that Barbados will be hosting the Woz Challenge Cup from June 10th – 13th, 2010.
The Woz Challenge Cup is being hosted at the grounds of Lion Castle Polo Estates.
Barbados, a world class destination, has been the host of two major world class events, the World Golf Championships in 2006 and the finals of World Cup Cricket in 2007.
Barbados will now host the International Woz Challenge Cup in Segway Polo, cementing Barbados in the international market as a leading international sports destination.
The event is expected to have over 80 players from various teams around the world. Barbados is a place for vacation seekers and sports enthusiasts who travel the globe seeking new destinations for their varied thrills and adventures.
The SPCB has received full support from the Government of Barbados through its Ministry of Tourism, The Barbados Tourism Authority and other public sector agencies and private companies who have both agreed to support and provide their services/products as needed to make this event a resounding success for Barbados in June 2010.
Segway machines, (Pt – Personal transporters) were introduced to Barbados in 2009 and Segway Sightseeing Tours have become increasingly popular with cruise ship passengers and long stay visitors.
Segway machines are used globally as promotional vehicles and as an efficient means of moving around large work spaces like airports and seaports.
The event will attract not only the players of this fast growing sport but supporters and their networks to Barbados.
Segway Polo started as a leisure sport for the likes of Steve Wozniak, Co-founder of Apple Inc. () to a world recognized sport in the United States, Europe, New Zealand, and Dubai, to name a few.
