Haitian Times editor in chief and Kreyol Fest Organizer Garry Pierre-Pierre and Haitian Minister of Culture and communication Mme Marie Laurence Jacelyn Lassegue gave a press conference this morning in an effort to kick off the 10th Edition of the New York’s largest Haitian festival.

In light of the recent earthquake that rocked the southern part of that country, this year’s Kreyol Fest will also raise funds to help with the relief and reconstruction efforts currently taking place in Haiti.

According to Mr. Pierre-Pierre, a portion of the funds will also be dedicated to helping artists who, without a doubt, have suffered economically from the systematic freeze of all entertainment activities since January.

The annual rendez-vous takes place in Wingate Park (Brooklyn) on June 27th 2010.
