West Indies All-Rounder from Barbados to lead Bajan side in County Festival at Kensington Oval

West Indies allrounder Ryan Hinds has been named to captain the Barbados Select XI in a series of matches against English County Teams which are currently on tour of Barbados. The teams – Derbyshire, Essex, Lancashire and Yorkshire – are on the island for pre-season training and warm-up matches.

Ryan_Hinds_300Hinds, a left-handed batsman and left-arm spinner, has played 15 Tests and 14 One-Day Internationals for the Windies. He was part of the team which beat England last year to win the Wisden Trophy at home. Also in the Barbados Select XI is fast bowling allrounder Jason Holder, who was one of the star players for the West Indies Under-19 at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year.

The home-site of the WICB says that The Barbados Select XI will play against Lancashire in a Twenty/20 match on Saturday at Kensington Oval under lights at 6 pm. Before that match, Yorkshire face University of the West Indies at 10 am and Derbyshire take on Essex at 1.30 pm

Barbados Select XI squad: Ryan Hinds (captain), Larry Babb, Jonathan Carter, Miguel Cummins, Jason Haynes, Jason Hinds, Jason Holder, Kyle Hope, Antonio Mayers, Carlo Morris, Martin Nurse, Ashley Nurse, Barrington Yearwood.
