Barbados branch of British High Commission takes part in worldwide Sport Relief Mile

Over fifty runners will pound around the garden of the British High Commissioner’s residence, Ben Mar, on Sunday 21 March to join thousands of people across the world to take part in the Sport Relief Mile in one of the biggest mass participation events ever.Sport_Relief_logo The Sport Relief Mile is an initiative of the British charity Comic Relief, which raises money to help vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

The British High Commission is running a Mile in Barbados in order to raise money for two local charities, Paralympics and Special Olympics.

The One Mile Race will take place at approximately 3:30 pm at Ben Mar, Erdiston Road, St Michael. The Race will be started by Wesley Worrell of the Barbados Paralympics, who will also be presenting prizes.

Participants will be members of the British High Commission, the Department for International Development (DfID) and members of the British Women’s Club in Barbados. Other elements of the charity fund raiser will be children’s games, raffles, afternoon tea and a glass of Pimms to round off the day.
