INJURED BRAVO IS SUBBED WITH WAVELL HINDS
Wavell Hinds has been recalled to the West Indies team from the wilderness after an exceptional run in the WICB Four Day Tournament.
Hinds has been called up as the replacement for injured Dwayne Bravo who is suffering from a broken right thumb.
Bravo suffered the injury while playing for the Victoria Bushrangers in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash and has been ruled out of the tour of Australia. He will now return to the Caribbean and hope to regain fitness prior to the Digicel Series against Zimbabwe which starts on February 28th.
Hinds will fly out to Australia to join the 15 man squad and while he will miss the warm up match against the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra on February 4th, he will be available for the First ODI at the MCG on February 7th.
Hinds has been in tremendous form with the bat in regional first class cricket. In four innings he score 330 runs at an average of 110. In his last innings – against Guyana – he made a commanding 151 and had previously made 95 and 70 against the Windward and Leeward Islands respectively.
Hinds last played for the West Indies in the ICC Champions Trophy in India in 2006 and had subsequently featured for Derbyshire in English County Cricket and played for Ahmedabad in the now disbanded Indian Cricket League.
