GUYANESE SUFFER WITH SARWAN INJURY BLOW APART FROM ‘TIGER’ CHANDERPAUL
Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has been forced to withdraw from the Guyana squad for the WICB Regional 4-Day Tournament after suffering an injury.
Sarwan will be replaced by rookie batsman Rajendra Chandrika and opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon will take the reins of leadership.
This latest injury blow is another massive one just days after losing leading batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul also to injury.
And this is Sarwan’s second injury in the past month as he sat on the injury bench of the West Indies opening Test against Australia in the recent tour Down Under. Sarwan injured his back while executing fielding drills the day before the Gabba Test but returned to play in the second and third Tests though with modest results.
Guyana open their 2010 regional campaign against Trinidad and Tobago at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua in a historic day/night game which will be played with revolutionary pink balls.
Guyana squad: Sewnarine Chattergoon (Captain), Travis Dowlin, Narsingh Deonarine, Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Derwin Christian (Wicketkeeper), Davendra Bishoo, Esuan Crandon, Veerasammy Permaul, Brandon Bess, Trevor Benn, Vishal Singh, Rajendra Chandrika.
