Dear brother Jiten,

I am just overjoyed that you are alive and finally free and able to be with your lovely wife and baby son again, as well as communicate with me today!

My articles are the least I could do for you – no need to thank me for that.

Your brother forever,

Damon

Subject: Greetings & Thanks from Manipur

Dear Damon,

First a happy new year 2010.

I would like to thank you for all your solidarity, concerns and most importantly your efforts to secure our release and also to solicit the support of human rights and indigenous peoples worldwide to condemn the deep human rights crisis here.

I am certain the overwhelming voices of concerns with the situation here will certainly make a difference, however small it is, in the way how the Govt deals with our people. Damon, I have seen several websites and blogs with your comments and the voices are very sharp and strong. There are stories that I never told you and some stories that will take time, I do hope we me once more so that I can tell you untold stories of Manipur and myself.

I was released a little while back but not could write soon as I had to undergo series of medical checkups. I am taking medicines for a slight problem of Jaundice due to irritation of my liver, probably due to unhygienic waters inside the jail.

Thanks again for standing with us in our crucial times,

Jiten Yumnam
Imphal, Manipur
