(Perfect Christmas present for yourself or a loved one who has a creative side)

Cost: $600 for all three days, or $250 per day
To register: Email hberger_2000@yahoo.com
Proposed locations (subject to change)
Day 1: Flower Forest— Vegetation: working with shape/pattern; negative painting
Day 2: Atlantis Hotel — Water: capturing movement
Day 3: Farley Hill — Buildings & perspective; the structure in the landscape or a close-up feature of a building; emphasis on shape and value
Ariel says: “There is nothing like plein air painting to awaken the senses. It can be uncomfortable and difficult, but you never forget the sounds, smells and feelings from where you were. Often the outside work is a study for a future painting or series of paintings. It forces you to make decisions faster than in the studio and gives a much fresher approach to any subject. I love to paint in the studio because I can plan and have my materials and comforts at hand. Outside I need to be flexible but some of my best paintings come from the outside experience. I have my pencils, paints and sketch book as well as my camera with me when I travel. I look back on these paintings and drawings with a flood of memories. The location is etched in my mind.”
