Irish Child Prodigy stuns Oistins – would Simon Cowell slum it at Hercules’ Bar for the next Susan Boyle?

Hercules

Everyone knows I love a good Karaoke, sometimes I fly, like with “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch” (perfect for this time of year as everyone else tries the usual Kenny & Dolly crud) or “My Way“… Other times I crash faster than Enron with ankle-weights strapped on, as in a version of Bryan Adams’ “Everything I do (I do it for you)” when tourists left the bar in St Lawrence years ago…

The Hercules’ Bar in Oistins draws a large crowd on Sunday nights for their event, and everyone in the bar watches this little white girl with her hair all braided a la Bo Derek go up to the karaoke-man and whisper, he nods his head but he has a weird look on his face.

So he calls the next tune which is Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love Of All” a very difficult song that I still tend to feel should be banned from Karaoke as most people give it all the justice of a cat whose tail was stepped on by Jabba The Hut. Up walks the little white girl, to quote Kenny Rogers from “Coward Of The County“? ‘You could’ve heard a pin drop…”

The girl NAILED the song! Even right at the end when she sang “…learning to love one’s self…” which requires real note-shifting and breath control, it was no problem!

All of the patrons did not expect this kid to do so well, but fair is fair, and you could barely hear yourself think for the nuclear-blast of applause erupting in Hercules’ Bar!

She didn’t done there ‘though…

Some moments later, she asked for a next Whitney-tune, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and while the crowd was not skeptical, nevertheless, it is another note-bender from the ex-Mrs Bobby Brown which usually should not be attempted at home…

If anything, the little girl did that one BETTER than her first effort? Where is Simon Cowell? It is said he detests karaoke-bars and certainly not seen on the South Coast but if he’s looking for talent maybe he needs to slum it – after all Susan Boyle was not from a great part of Edinburgh was she?

I made an effort to speak with the Mother and potential star, her name is Jade Smith from Dublin, Ireland. She must have gob-smacked the Blarney stone for that singing! She is only 10 years old and wants to be a singer – she says Whitney Houston is her idol as likes her “big voice“!

It’s her first time in Barbados, but she loves here and wants to become, what else? A singer! Mr Cowell? Potential candidate for X-Factor?
